Softball activities

Softball is played by both boys and girls from Grade 4 to Grade 7.

The Softball league is played in the third Term on Mondays and Wednesdays. The league is very competitive since public schools and private schools compete on the same platform.

Ashton managed league winners a few times in the past couple of years. These teams goes through to the very prestigious Gauteng Championships held in Pretoria annually where the top teams from Ekurhuleni, Tshwane and North West compete against each other. In the recent past the following teams won their respective leagues:

2012: U/13 Boys and U/11 Girls.

2013: U/11 Boys

Towards the end of the third Term each year, Provincials trials are held and Ashton Junior College has a very good track record with multiple representatives for both boys and girls annually. In 2014 Ashton Junior College had a record 7 provincial players (4 girls and 3 boys) representing Ekurhuleni Softball at the National Championship held in December of each year.

Ashton Junior College organise regular training camps for their young Softball players during the June holiday to improve their skills. These training camps are hosted by senior Provincial players and coaches from Ekurhuleni.

Ashton Junior College does employ external coaches. These coaches are club, provincial and national players with a vast knowledge of the game. One of the teaching staff is a club and provincial coach as well.

Live student to student interaction which creates critical and analytical thinking skills stimulating the progress of the students, inspiring them to develop knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed.
Excellence in our approach from passionate teachers to treat every student as a unique individual with different abilities which is essential to an individual’s personal and scholastic growth based on the fruit of the Spirit namely, Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness and Self-Control (Galatians 5 :22 – 23).
Pastoral and academic support for parents and students to assist during this unprecedented Covid-19 period.
