Quiz Team

Every year, during March, the three houses, Oxford, London and Cambridge, select their top students in general knowledge to compete for the Inter-house General Knowledge Quiz. It is a battle in the true sense of the word across different topics such as Literature, Biology, Science, Current Affairs, History, Geography, Technology, Entertainment and Music. Contestants answer questions and if incorrectly answered, these are passed to the audience for the chance to outperform the contestants. The Quiz mistress adds to the occasion by including humorous remarks whilst scorers furiously work to announce the winning house.

The week after the Inter-house Quiz, an Ashton Junior College Quiz Team is announced to compete against other schools in Quiz Evenings. The two most important events are the Arbor Primary Quiz held in May each year and the SISA Quiz evening held at St Francis each year.

The Quiz team performs well and often achieves a top three finish on these evenings.

  • In 2011 Ashton Junior College attained 2nd position at the SISA Quiz Evening
  • In 2012 Ashton Junior College won the SISA Quiz Trophy.
  • In 2013 We were unable to attend due to a clash with activities.
  • In 2014 a third position was achieved.
  • In 2015 a fourth position was achieved.

The Quiz Team is just one more opportunity offered to our enthusiastic students to compete against other schools and participate as a team.
