Cross Country

This is a sport for all age groups and both genders. The focus for our team is a love of running and general fitness. We vary our training between longer runs, hill training, speed work and core strengthening. Our team has a wide range of abilities and levels of fitness and as such we cater for all our students.

The cross country season usually starts in the June – July holidays with training taking place at Homestead Dam during this time. The league begins in the third term and kicks off with a 4 x 2 km relay race which is a fun afternoon for the athletes.

Our Cross Country team participates in the Ekurhuleni North District school league. This is an extremely competitive league with a large number of athletes participating in each group. The league usually has four or five meets and a final, from which a team is chosen to represent the district at the Gauteng championships. We have had students reach this prestigious level in the past.

Cross Country gives the students an enormous sense of achievement as they see their running improve over each season and we always have a positive, enjoyable experience. If you love running, this is the team you should be part of.
