Senior College

At Ashton, we embrace a relatively new concept in education by offering students the choice of two worlds.  

In Form 1, our students are introduced to a broad spectrum of subjects offered on a combined curriculum of the Cambridge Assessment International Examinations (CAIE) and the Independent Examinations Board (IEB).  At the end of the first year, our students select their Form 2 subjects and either the CAIE* or IEB Curriculum, based on their Form 1 results. 

CAIE

CAIE is the world’s largest provider of international education programmes and qualifications.

Our Senior College offers two stages: Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), from Form 2 to Form 3, and Cambridge Advanced and Advanced Subsidiary, from Form 4 to Form 5.

IEB

IEB is an assessment body accredited by Umalusi, the South African statutory body responsible for quality assurance for school and adult assessments. The IEB offers external assessment in accordance with legislation and Umalusi directives for schools registered with it. quil, nurturing environment.

Junior College – Foundation Phase

Foundation Phase is an introduction to formal learning and at Ashton we believe in making it an exciting experience. Our curriculum from Grade 1 to 3 includes the Cambridge International Curriculum from the University of Cambridge; encourages creative thinking, problem-solving and instils a love for art, culture and sport. Foundation Phase students undergo more formal assessments at the end of each term, in English, Mathematics and Life Skills.

Junior College – Intersen Phase

In the Intersen Phase, our students are guided to cope with more advanced formal academic work, are equipped with essential study skills and given greater independence.

From Grade 4 to 6 our students follow the Cambridge International Primary Checkpoint Curriculum. In Grade 6, our students write external Cambridge exams in English, Mathematics and Science.

In their final year of Junior College (Grade 7) our students follow a combination of the South African National Curriculum and the Cambridge Secondary Curriculum.

Computer Studies

All our Junior College students from Grade 1 to 7 make use of the Knowledge Network Computer Studies Curriculum in our Computer Lab. These lessons provide students with important computer skills and knowledge that will benefit them in the technologically and digitally driven future.

Ashlings Academics

At the Ashlings’ Early Learning Centre, we believe in providing a stimulating and creative environment in which our Ashlings can learn and play. Our rich hands-on teaching style and specially designed curriculum help our Ashlings to develop optimally and find their wings.

The Ashlings’ Early Learning Centre curriculum has been designed to suit the specific needs of socially and emotionally ready little ones, to prepare them for the more formal schooling environment of Grade 1. The curriculum includes fantasy play, puzzle building, and the development of perceptual skills through fine and gross motor activities. Our Ashlings also use the Knowledge Network Computer Studies curriculum, which introduces them to the world of computers.
